I'll tumblr for ya

I know people get personally offended whenever you criticize the costumes on female comic book/video game characters, but I cannot stand the Arkham Asylum/City Poison Ivy.

Not because it’s too sexy/not sexy enough/too revealing/ anything like that, it just… doesn’t make sense. Why is Ivy wearing a shitty off-the-rack H&M blazer? It doesn’t look like something Ivy would choose to wear, it doesn’t look like something the prison would give her, it looks like she was out walking and got kind of cold so she popped into Value Village and grabbed the first three dollar shirt that fit for the sake of covering up a bit more. It doesn’t even match her colour scheme, she’s all red, green, and yellow, then there’s that stupid clashy neon blue piping out of nowhere.

I honestly don’t know what was going through the head of the person who was designing it. I have a hard time believing someone thought it was a sexy choice because it’s such a frumpy stupid garment compared to the look you expect from Ivy and, really, covers more of her body than they would have if they just opted for a standard leaf-bra, but at the same time it isn’t exactly a modest choice with it’s two buttons straining to contain her presumably otherwise bare boobs. If covering more skin was the goal, why not just give her a leaf bustier?

Plus is has that weird glossy burlap texture that half the fabrics in the game do, so it looks like the whole thing is made out of plastic canvas.

I’m just… really truly perplexed by the team that drew this and modeled it and still thought OH YEAH WE HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK ON THIS ONE.
